Here at Southtown Flats apartments in downtown San Antonio, we are of the belief that everyone has a right to a good night’s sleep. Whether you worked your tail off all day or you lounged around and watched movies, you deserve to sleep through the night and wake up feeling refreshed. Unfortunately, a lot of people don’t get that kind of sleep. It could be a result of an uncomfortable mattress, or it could be because of other factors like your diet or exercise regimen. Whatever’s causing your problem, we’re here to help.
The blog post below has a couple useful tips that will help you sleep more soundly.. Getting a good night’s sleep is about more than what you do at night; it’s about the actions take throughout the day to ensure you'll feel ready for bed when the time comes. Some of the factors include diet, exercise, stress levels, how late you’re eating and how much screen time you’re getting. If you can manage those aspects of your life, you'll be able to manage your sleep schedule.
With the intro out of the way, let’s dive right into this week’s list of healthy sleeping tips! When you’re done reading through this week’s post, please be sure to share the link to this page with your friends and neighbors at Southtown Flats — the apartments downtown San Antonio residents choose for comfort and convenience.
Take a cold shower before bed
You know that feeling you get when you see that it’s bedtime but you don’t feel tired at all? It’s not a good one, as it forces you to grapple with the fact that you’ll be up late and tired at work the next day. Maybe you crawl into bed anyway, only to lie there awake for hours.
Next time you get that feeling, skip the feeling of dread and hop in your shower. Make the water as cold as you can handle, and use the time in the shower to lower your body temperature. You’ll fall asleep much more quickly after you get out! The reason this works is because our bodies need to cool down before we can call asleep. Cold showers help speed this process along.
Avoid the gym at night
Working out is great for your sleep schedule, but not if you do it late at night. As we mentioned above, your body needs to cool down before it can fall asleep. Working out raises your body’s temperature, making it that much harder for your body to lower it again when it’s time to go to bed. If you’re going to workout at night, be sure to do it immediately after work. Alternatively, you can force yourself the workout in the morning and experience the effects of an all-day energy boost!
